Most Venezuelans cross the border from Cucuta, Venezuela to Colombia, where permanence permits are hard to obtain, and travel across Colombia to reach Tumbes, Peru. According to Peruvian Superintendence of Migrations, over 353,000 Venezuelans moved to Peru and 53,000 obtained the temporal permanence permit. The UN Refugee Agency confirmed Peru received 126,997 asylum petitions last June, 58,727 more than the United States. (Photo by Manuel Medir/Getty Images)
